Care instructions
CARE
Caring for your pieces.
Natural fabrics respond to gentle care. A few simple habits can help your pieces last for years.
Always follow the instructions for your specific product and its care label. The general guidance below does not replace the care instructions for your piece.
Linen
Hand wash in cold water or machine wash on a delicate programme at 30°C. Dry flat. Iron while slightly damp, at a medium temperature. Linen softens with each wash.
Silk
Hand wash in cold water with a gentle silk detergent, or dry clean. Do not wring — wrap in a clean towel to remove excess water. Dry on a hanger in the shade, away from direct sunlight. Iron on the lowest heat, on the reverse, with a protective cloth between the iron and fabric.
Pieces with feathers or crystals
Professional dry cleaning only, by a cleaner experienced in delicate garments. Let them know that the feathers or crystals are applied by hand.
Store on a padded hanger in a breathable fabric garment bag (cotton or wool), apart from other pieces to avoid friction.
Wool and cashmere
Hand wash in cold water with a specialist wool detergent. Do not wring. Dry flat — wool and cashmere can lose their shape on a hanger.
To help maintain the shape, brush gently with a cashmere brush before storing. Use lavender or cedar to protect against moths.
A few general guidelines
Air each piece for a few hours after wearing, before returning it to your wardrobe.
Keep your pieces in natural fabric garment bags, rather than plastic — natural fabrics need to breathe.
For fresh stains, blot with a clean damp cloth without rubbing, and take the piece to a dry cleaner within 24 hours. Acting promptly improves the chances of removing the stain.
Apply perfume before dressing, rather than onto the garment — alcohol can stain silk and chiffon.
